Meet Dr. Pam Straker

Psychologist, Author, and Advocate for those who care deeply, at home and at work.

Recognized as one of the most prominent voices for caregiver advocacy, Dr. Pamela Straker (Dr. Pam) is an award-winning international keynoter, author, and leading authority on mental health and wellness. Dr Pam’s professional experience has been  characterized by leadership in psychological practice, impactful contributions to mental health policy and practice, and dedication to advancing health equity and education.  Leveraging over 30 years of experience, her work has spanned various sectors, including significant roles in organizational leadership, advisory capacities, and as a thought leader through publications and speaking. She trains individuals, corporations, and  organizations worldwide on how to have greater clarity, awareness, a new way of thinking, and a sustainable plan for assuming the role of a caregiver. 

Dr. Pam has authored the Best Selling book, Heroic Caregiver An Anthology of Lessons On Resilience, Coping, and Laughter. She speaks on this topic to empower caregivers to find balance, establish boundaries, and care for themselves as much as they care for others. She has been a caregiver for family members for more than  20 years. 

Dr. Pam has provided psychotherapy and has managed and consulted to, nonprofit organizations and programs serving populations in which the greatest health disparities, including those associated with aging, have existed. She has trained and coached in the areas of leadership, stress management, resolving conflict in the workplace, emotional literacy, and more at Montclair State University, the Support Center for Nonprofit Management, New Jersey Ace-Net, Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA) among others. She served as a Program Trainer and Coach in the Department of Psychology at Yale University. 

Among other media entities, Dr. Pam has appeared on WYNC Radio, Brooklyn 45 TV, DIVA Talk Radio, and more. She served as a co-author for the book, Letters To My Corporate Sisters, Stories of Endurance, Elevation and Encouragement

Dr. Pam holds a doctoral degree in Psychology from Hofstra University, where she also received a master’s degree, and has achieved alumna status at Columbia University’s  Executive Level Institute for Not-for-Profit Management. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Rochester.
